LifeSport at Lavaman

The Lavaman Triathlon is one of the most fun, beautiful, and unique triathlons on the planet.  LifeSport and its coaches have been actively involved in Lavaman for many years and have become good friends with the Race Director, Gerry Rott, and her tireless race crew.

This year the event was the most popular ever with an early sell out and a huge involvement from Team in Training.  On Friday, LifeSport set up at the event expo and had a great response from the participants.  On Saturday, the LifeSport Coaches and Athletes lead the warm-up for the Kid’s races, one of the cutest events you will ever see, and then held a “Last Minute Race Tips” seminar that afternoon that was attended by over 100 participants.

On Sunday, race day, LifeSport was represented extremely well lead by the pro women and local Bree Wee who gave the hometown fans what they wanted, a convincing victory.  Tyler Stewart was here to keep her in check – Tyler was on the pro podium at Ironman Florida last year and set the fastest bike split in the history of women’s Ironman (4:47). LifeSporter’s on pro women’s podium also included Jessica Kirkwood (3rd), and Janet Neilsen (5th).  Other LifeSport athletes on the podium in their respective age groups included Samantha Mazer (1st), Jenny Skinner (5th), Dylan Rist (2nd), Audrey Erlandson (5th), Rebecca Woodburn (3rd), Aaron Altura (3rd), and Ellis Short (2nd – Relay).  Honorable mention goes to the LifeSport coaches relay team for finishing 5th in the their division and congrats to other LifeSport athletes who were close to the podium, had PR’s, or just enjoyed the early season fitness opportunity in a beautiful setting.
